My mother gave all my sisters and I strong names. I greatly disliked the nickname because it sounded so childish, especially as I got older. I don't feel I would have disliked being called by my first name had it not been used negatively. For example, whenever I was in trouble, I was referred to by my full name, Rebecca Lynn. So whenever my first name was called out I always tied it to being in trouble. Thus, I have been going by my middle name since Jr High School. I have yet to get my family on board with calling me Lynn. It's about a 50/50 split even though Lynn is my middle name and not a nickname. Crazy but, it is what it is, lol !!! =)

I love my name but I despise being called Becky. I went all through school being called Becky. It wasn't until I left for college that I insisted on being called Rebecca. My friends now all call me Becca and that's fine with me. I can always tell from which point in my life a person knows me from just by the name they call me. My Papa helped choose my name and my initials match his, so my full name means a lot to me.
